In a sop to agitating state government employees before the assembly polls in September, the Arunachal Pradesh government today announced that 15 months' arrear would be paid to them before the elections.
Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu told reporters that other arrear will be paid later.
Earlier this year the state government employees, went on an indefinite strike paralysing administration. It turned out to be a poll issue before the recent Lok Sabha election and the state was forced to invoke provisions of NSA and arrest the striking leaders.
The strike was suspended and NSA revoked following talks between the two sides.
Replying to a question, Khandu claimed the ruling Congress will win 48 to 50 seats in the 60-member state assembly in the next election.
