AICPIN for June'12 released, Central and Bank D.A. to increase as expected

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of June, 2012 increased by 2 points and stood at 208 (two hundred eight).
7% increase in D.A. for central staff, 40 slabs hike for Bankers.

Income Tax Return : Due Date extended

Due to power failure and disturbance of normalcy for this in a large portion of the country, the due date has been extended to 31st August 2012 for the A.Y. 2012-13.

Bank and Central D.A. may be known exactly tomorrow

The labour bureau is going to announce AICPIN data for June 2012 tomorrow. This figure is necessary to arrive at the exact Dearness Allowance increase for Bank and Central Govt. employees. The state Govt.s also follow the central D.A. pattern.. It was already predicted a rise of 7% D.A. for central staff w.e.f 1st July 2012 by this blog.
The bankers may also expect a hefty hike of nearly 40 slabs for Aug/Sep/October 2012.

Punjab changes office time, starts early, ends early

Chandigarh, Jul 30 (PTI) Facing acute power shortage, the Punjab government today changed timings of its offices from August one.
The changed timings, however, would not be applicable to government offices located in Chandigarh, an official spokesman said here.
Timings of all offices of the Corporation and the Board had also been changed, he said.
The new timings would be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Consequent on revision of interest rate for subscription/deposits in General Provident Fund from 8.6% to 8.8% with effect from 01.04.2012, Employees Provident Fund Organization has also revised the interest rate of staff Provident fund to 8.8% with effect from 01.04.2012.

Talk with IBA did not deliver result, Banks going on strike on 22 and 23rd August


Talks with IBA regarding various issues took place on 24.07.12 but the IBA failed to provide any commitment, they only insisted about pursuing the Govt. As a result the Unions decided to go with their planned agitation and strike programme. If nothing positive comes out within next 10 days, they will go into warpath again and observe strike on 22nd and 23rd August to press their demands.

NPS performed better that GPF in the last year

The three NPS managers handling the pension funds of Central and state government employees have delivered average returns of 9.33% in the past one year, outperforming the state-run government provident fund (GPF), employees provident fund (EPF) and the public provident fund (PPF). The three-year annualised returns are also quite decent at 8.47%, though not as spectacular as in the past one year.

Income under 5 lacs from salary ? No need to file return


Exemption of Salaried Employees from Requirement of Filing of Returns for Assessment Year 2012-13
Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) vide its Notification No. 9/2012 dated 17th February, 2012 has exempted salaried employees from the requirement of filing the returns for assessment year 2012-13. The exemption is applicable only if all the following conditions are fulfilled:-

• Employee has earned only salary income and income from savings bank account and the annual interest earned from savings bank account is less than Rs. 10 thousand. 

• The total Income of the employee does not exceed Rs. 5 Lakh (Total Income means Gross Total Income Less deductions under Chapter VIA).

Cabinet approved college and university teachers' arrear payment

Release of arrears to teachers: govt nod to proposal
The government today approved a proposal paving the way for release of arrears due to teachers of state-run colleges and universities following implementation of the Sixth Pay commission.
The Union Cabinet gave its approval to de-link release of assistance to state governments from the retirement age, as this condition was coming in the way from release of arrears to the states.

Centre likely to clear pay commission arrears to college and university teachers

New Delhi, July 18 (PTI) The government is likely to consider tomorrow a proposal to clear its share of arrears due to teachers of state-run colleges and universities following implementation of the Sixth Pay commission. The arrears is likely to be paid in three instalments benefiting close to four lakh teachers, sources said.

UFBU defer two day's bank strike on 25th and 26th July 2012.

UFBU to submit Charter of Demands to IBA for 10th BPS by the end of August 2012

As we are aware the present wage settlement of Bank workmen Staff /Officers  will come to an end  by 31st  October2012 and revision of wages is due from 1st November, 2012.
The process of 10th Bipartite settlement has  been  commenced and few constituents of UFBU have already  prepared Draft Charter of Demands for 10th BPS.  BEFI has released the draft recently which has been already published.

Central Public Enterprises hikes IDA, Order issued

UP govt employees get 7% hike in dearness allowance


 Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav gave green signal to increase the dearness allowance (DA) given to all state government employees, officials and teachers by 7%. At present, the state government employees and teachers are getting 61% DA which after the increase will be 68%.
According to the state government sources, the DA from January to July will be added to the Greneral Provident Fund, and from August, cash will be given. This means, employees, and teachers will get extra amount in their September salaray. However, the beneficiaries will be able to get increased DA only from January.

Central D.A. is heading towards 7% again from 1st July'12

With the announcement of AICPIN number for the month of May'12 as 206 (increase of 1 point) by the Labour Dept., it is obvious that Central D.A. is going to be hiked @7% again with effect from 1st July 2012. There is still one months' (June'12) number is yet to be announced , which is needed for final calculation but in can be predicted that D.A. is going to be hiked by 7% taking it to a overall 72%.
