Nearly 85% of Mantralaya employees affiliated to various unions had struck work on February 25 and 26, seeking in toto implementation of the sixth pay commission's recommendations.
The general administration department (GAD) has now asked all department heads to submit a report on actual attendance on those two days.
"The (number of employees who swiped their cards) on both days was nearly 70%, of which only 4-5% actually worked," principal secretary (GAD) KP Bakshi said. "Of the 30% who kept off the office, only 102 (of the total 7,200 employees) had taken authorised or pre-sanctioned leave. This means more than 85% of employees face pay cuts."
The employees have now offered to compensate the loss by working on two holidays. "We are ready to work on Sundays or on other holidays to compensate for the loss of work," said Subhash Gangurde, general secretary of the Maharashtra State Government Employees' Central Federation.
