Salaries dip by 25 per cent at IIM-Ahmedabad placements

The average salaries had dropped by around 25 per cent as compared to last year, “but the pre-recruitment measures we took this year helped us a great deal”, said Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) director Samir Barua on the conclusion of placements here on Thursday.

The students drew an average domestic salary of Rs 12.17 lakh while the international salary average stood at US $83,000 (exclusive of bonus).

Despite being the worst hit as well as the most vulnerable sector right now, finance saw the highest percentage of acceptance at 39 per cent. This was followed by consulting (24 per cent), marketing (13 per cent), general management (9 per cent), systems (6 per cent) and others with 6 per cent (including media, rating agencies, manufacturing sector). Overall, the highest number of offers were made by the Union Bank of India (18).
