Clarification regarding Grade Pay of Income Tax Officers.

There was a confusion in fixing the revised pay of the ITOs as per the sixth Pay commission recommendations, whether the perod of 4 years of regular service is to be counted from the date of promotion in the grade of ITO or from the date when the pay scale of ITO s were revised from rs 6500-10500 to 7500-12000 [pre revised] , i.e. from 21 April 2004.

It is hereby clarified by the Board that all ITO s who have completed 4 years of regular service in the grade of ITO as on 01.01.2006 would be entitled to the Grade Pay of Rs 5400 in PB 2 on non functional basis on 1st January 2006, irrespective of that pay scale of the ITOs stood revised on 21April 2004.

It is further clarified that after 1st January 2006, Grade Pay of Rs 5400 in PB 2 on non-functional basis would be granted to an ITO on completion of 4 years of regular service in the grade of Income Tax Officer.
