Bihar employees call off strike, govt says no victimisation

More than three lakh employees of Bihar Government today called off their 34-day long strike over implementation of the 6th Pay Commission's recommendation
after the government gave an assurance to Patna High Court that they would bot be victimised.

The strike would be withdrawn this evening, the counsel for the three striking employee associations Shyama Prasad Mukherjee said in an undertaking to a division bench of Patna High Court.

The undertaking followed an assurance from Advocate General P K Sahi, who appearing on behalf of the government said there would be no victimisation of the striking staff whose services the department of personnel and administrative reforms had threatened to terminate and initiated the process on Friday.

On a suggestion by the court both sides agreed that the representatives of the agitating unions would submit their grievances before the three-member pay committee constituted by the government to decide the modalities of making payment in the light of the pay panel report by February 17 and the state government would issue its final order by March 31.

The division bench comprising acting chief justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad and Justice Shyam Kishore Sharma fixed April 6 for next hearing.
