The pay commission chaired by Justice R. Rajendra Babu would today submit a report to Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, recommending a revision of scales for Government employees and teachers. The pay commission is most likely to recommend a minimum salary revision of Rs 1000 for the 4.5 lakh Government employees and teachers in the State.
The state government is planning revised wages from April 2011. The state government has also asked the commission to give a report on the pay revisions in universities, high court and water authority.
The Government also asked the commission to give report on the pay revisions in universities, high court, and water authority. The government earlier approved steep hike in salary of college teachers by UGC and engineering college teachers by AICTE.
As per the governmental if it takes debt of Rs 2000 crore for pay hike, there won’t be any money in exchequer for developmental activities. So the demand to raise salary in par with central government employees won’t be acceptable.
The government had allotted time till December to the commission head by Justice Rajendra Babu which was formed in February.
Even if the commission submits report, the proceedings to hike the pay would be finalized only after three more months. Then the decision has to approve by the cabinet. Accountant general also examines the same before issuing it as an order. The pay revision would be included in budget 2010-11.
