Employees of General Insurance Company held a protest demonstration against the General Insurance Public Sector Associations (GIPSA), in front of New India Insurance Company's Regional Office on Mission Road, here on 31.08.10 and demanded delinking of management agenda with wage revision package.
The protest was held in response to a call given by General Insurance Employees' All India Association.
The protesters opposed the GIPSA's move to put pre-conditions for wage revision.
“GIPSA has offered 17.5 per cent wage increase with conditions. The pre-conditions include increase in the limit of 150-km distance for the transfer of Class-III employees, provision for compulsory retirement, short-term appointments at various levels in the officers' cadre, further outsourcing, flexible pay and flexible working hours,” association's vice-president R. Srinivas Murthy told The Hindu.
