The Left Front government in Tripura now confronts the growing ire of the state’s 1.5 lakh employees after defaulting consistently on payment of dearness allowance.
A convention of all employees associations, cutting across political affiliations, has been called on July 31 to decide on the next course of action.
On July 16, the state government had announced two per cent DA in monthly instalments for the employees as against five per cent according to slabs of consumer price index, sparking resentment among employees. This year’s first instalment in January had been only three per cent.
