Government officials were tight-lipped about the exact increments in salary hikes, which are still to be notified, but sources confirmed that the new pay structure is focused drawing luring fresh PhD graduates to teaching.
The sources confirmed the new regime would retain differences in pay structure between the IITs and the NITs — despite demands from the latter that their salaries be brought at par with the IITs.
Faculty at the IITs, IIMs and the NITs will also continue to receive salaries higher than their counterparts at identical posts in central universities, the sources added.
Strike hits banking activity, Union warns of Indefinite Strike.
Banking activity came to a standstill on Thursday as more than 7.5 lakh bank employees and 1.5 lakh officers went on a two-day strike.
G.D. Nadaf, General Secretary, All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), said activity in about 60,000 branches – including 15,000branches of the State Bank of India Group – remained closed since Thursday morning. “Even employees in the old-generation private bankshave joined the strike,” he said.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella of nine trade unions in the banking industry, has called the strike. The disputebetween the unions and the Indian Banks’ Association, which represents bank managements, is on a new wage settlement that would determinewages in the industry for the next five years.
C.H. Venkatachalam, Convenor, UFBU, said the UFBU is meeting on August 11 in Chennai to “chalk out a schedule for an indefinite strike if thebank managements remain unwilling to enter into a fair agreement.” He said most bank branches were closed because even officers “joined thestrike in large numbers.”
A banking industry source said the “total participation” of the clerical staff “affected the entire range of operations inbanks.” He said the ATMs remained “well-stocked” on Thursday, in anticipation of the impact of the strike. He said banks that haveoutsourced “ATM-filling” to external agencies are unlikely to run out of money on Friday. ATMs of banks that retain this task inhouse mayrun dry on Friday.

Still, there is an unknown distance between 'cup' and 'lip'
- One year to declare the scales !!
Another one year to implement??
Please compare the 6 pay scale with the UGC. Please find is there any worse scale of Assistant professor at IIT, IISC. or not?
Please read this news again. Where are the increased (higher) scales for NITs and super-increased (highest)scales for IITs as reported in this news item?
NITs are being given UGC scales after a one-year 'hard work and delibrations done in utmost top-confidential manner' by our great MHRD. The IITs getting Rs 500 more for Assoc and Prof level.
THIS IS THE NECTOR WHICH HAS COME OUT OF THE CHURNING (SAMUDRA MANTHAN) DONE BY MHRD FOR ONE COMPLETE YEAR.
TECHNICAL TEACHERS ARE FEELING CHEATED ESPECIALLY THE EXPERINCED ONE WHOSE "ROTTEN?" EXPERIANCE WILL NOT REFLECT ANYWHERE IN THEIR SALARIES IN COMPARISON TO NEW ENTRANTS WHO ARE ATTEMPTED TO BE LURED BY FRUSTRATING THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY SERVING FOR LAST 4-10 YEARS.
Please note:
Comparative benefits if IIT pay scales over UGC teachers:
1). 7 advance increments as compared to 5 in case of UGC teachers
2). Movement to Assoc. Prof. After 9 yrs compared to 12 yrs for UGC teachers
3). 13 yrs for movement to Professor post compared to 15 yrs in case of UGC teachers
4). Movement to Senior Professor after 6 years as compared to 10 yrs in case of UGC
5). A cumulative Professional allowance of Rs 3.0 lakh for 3 years as compared to none for UGC incumbent
