State Bank staff to get more salary and pension, agreement signed.

SBI staff and officers will get their pension ceiling hiked. The salary will be 4% more. SBI staff Federation president Mr Bhupen Kalita informed this in the conference of SBI Council in Kolkata yesterday. An agreement has been signed in this regard recently.
He added that since the Bank bipartite raised the salary of bankmen 17.5% but the effective hike for SBI was only 13.5%. Because the other Bank staff were given option to join the pension scheme. The SBI people was already enjoying the pension facility and they have got separate fund for this but still they had to bear the extra cost for providing pension to other bank employees.
Gen Secy of SBI staff Association, Mr Shyamal Karmakar informed that the maximum ceiling for calculation of pension was Rs 21,400 and now it is raised to Rs 31,500. 50% of this amount is fixed as pension. If the salary exceeds the upper ceiling, 40% of the excess amount is to be added with pension.

Very Good news. But concern for PF optees. As per the above, 4% would be paid to SBI staff. If that is the case, already rest of the employees got short of 4% pay. Then why 2.8 times of Nov 2007 revised scales contribution?
