The three-day strike by BSNL workers from December 1 will not affect the services, but administrative work, including payment of bills, officials said here today.
Over three lakh workers under the banner of the Joint Action Committee of BSNL Associations/Unions of executives and non-executives would take part in the nation-wide strike opposing disinvestment, proposal for voluntary retirement of one lakh employees and seeking financial viability of the state-run company.
"The entire workforce is completely against disinvestment since it is neither necessary nor beneficial to BSNL," North-East BSNL Employees Union Assistant Secretary Swapan Chakraborty said here.
He said the revenue and market share of BSNL has gone down mainly due to lack of mobile equipment, the tender for which has been continuously cancelled by the government, making acute capacity crunch.
