The Union Cabinet today[5/11] approved the proposal of the Department of Telecommunications regarding deputation of Group "A" officers of Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. (TCIL).
The approval is to allow TCIL to fill up such number of posts on deputation from Group 'A' officers of DOT for a period of 3 years w.e.f. 1.10.2010 as per DPE guidelines subject to maximum of 10% of the total number of below Board level posts in TCIL with the exemption from the rule of immediate absorption for a period of three years.
Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL), incorporated in 1978, is a leading ISO - 9001: 2000 certified, Mini Ratna category-I public sector undertaking with a strong base in Telecommunications & Information Technology. TCIL has been assigned the task of being the implementing agency for Pan-African e-Network project, which will enable sharing of Indian expertise with all the member countries of African Union. The network will primarily provide Tele-education, Tele-medicine and Very Very Important Persons connectivity.
For execution of the time bound project of Pan-African e-Network and other ongoing overseas/inland projects besides the expected projects in pipeline, TCIL requires a good number of experienced and talented senior officers.
This arrangement will provide effective and efficient utilization of pool of technical manpower available in the Department and enable TCIL to meet its short-term requirement of technical personnel.
