West Bengal Govt. to celebrate May Day with greater importance
this year. In addition to 1st may which is already notified as public holiday
in the state, the Govt. also declared 2nd may as a public holiday in the state.
State Govt. offices including municipalities, rural bodies (panchayats), Board,
Corporations, Undertaking, educational institutes etc. will remain closed for
two days, 1st and 2nd May 2018.
The state is scheduled to conduct rural polls in three phases of
which first one is set to be held on 1st May 2018. Most of the state
Govt. employees will be engaged in conduction polls on a holiday. So the Govt.
tried to heal their agony so that they may not feel deprived of holiday.
Incidentally, the state Govt. may be backbencher in releasing financial
benefits to the employees but in case of granting holidays, they may be treated
as pioneer !
