J&K has a total employee population of around 4.5 lakh persons, working in different departments. The government had made the commitment for implementing the pay commission recommendations from April 1, during the budget session earlier this year with retrospective effect from January 2016.

Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations and the employees will draw revised salaries from the current month.
“As already announced by Govt, the employees to draw revised scales of pay from current month,” said the information department on Twitter.
The State Cabinet is scheduled to meet at Civil Secretariat at 11:00AM on Tuesday. Sources said that the meeting will discuss implementation of 7th Pay Commission in J&K besides some cases of land transfer to various government departments. Earlier, the meet was scheduled for 4:00PM on April 24. However, it was preponed for 11:00AM.
