Dhumal announces host of schemes on Independence Day
Shimla, Aug 15 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today announced enhancement of monthly honorarium for freedom fighters and release of arrears for state government employees on the occasion of Independence Day.Dhumal also announced grant of old age monthly pension to new 10,535 beneficiaries and increase in old age pension of people aged 80 years or above to Rs 500 per month.The chief minister unfurled the tricolour at a function at Badsar in Hamirpur district.The ten per cent of arrears would be provided to state government employees as recommended by the Fifth Pay Commission, he said.Two new departments for women and child development and SCs, OBCs and minorities shall be set up in the state, he said.Dhumal said water harvesting tanks would constructed in each houses within the next three years to ease water problem.Persons with more than 70 per cent disability would be brought under National Health Insurance Scheme, 1,293 gramin vidya uppasaks who have completed eight-year service would be regularised and paid monthly salary of Rs 18,000, he said.The chief minister also announced enhancement in daily allowance of home guards in the state and expectant mothers would be provided free medical facilities in government health institutions.He also announced three months remission for prisoners serving life term or sentence of more than 10 years, two months to those convicted for more than five years to upto ten years and 45 days to jail inmates sentenced to three-five years.
