CMs pledge support to mediapersons stir for wage boards

Several Chief Ministers cutting across party lines came out in support of mediapersons' demand for immediate notification of Majithia wage boards and promised to take up their case strongly with the Centre. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee favoured steps for implementation of the wage boards for mediapersons.
"I am for implementation of the wage boards recommendations for journalists and non-journalist employees of newspapers and news agencies," she said after receiving a memorandum from agitating mediapersons in Kolkata.
Banerjee promised to take up the cause of media personnel with the Centre.
Assam chief minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi said in Guwahati, "I am in full favour of implementation of the wage boards recommendations by all news organisations at the earliest."
Journalists and non-journalists had organised nationwide dharnas yesterday in support of their demand.
The agitation was organised by Confederation of News paper and news agencies Employees Organisations (CNNAEO) which comprise of Federation of PTI Employees Unions, UNI Workers Unions, AINEF, IJU, IFWJ and NUJ.
