Clearing all doubts, the state government today released five percent DA to the state government employees taking cumulative total release of DA over the revised pay to 35 percent. The council of ministers which met today approved the plan to hike in the DA keeping in mind of persistent demand by the government employees. The increase will come into effect from July 1, 2012. Even after the hike in DA, the difference between central government and state government employees stands at 30 percent.
Talking to media, Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury said that not only regular government employees and pensioners, wages to contingent/DRW/HG, group –C, group-D employees, fixed pay employees (group –C/D), part-time workers and anganwadi workers and helpers would get benefit from the decision. Chowdhury said all PSUs, ULBs, TTAADC and other autonomous bodies may take decision for providing installment of DA with effect from July 1.
“The state’s contribution of honorarium would be increased from Rs. 1794 to Rs. 1984 for Aganwadi Workers and from Rs. 1262 to Rs. 1377 for Aganwadi Helpers with effect from July 1” he said. Chowdhury further said, the total additional financial implication will be for nine months during year 2012-13, which amounts to Rs. 115.00 crore. However, the annual additional implication would be Rs. 153.33 crore.
