Pay-hike, gifts galore for AP legislators

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh legislators were in for a bonanza on the last day of the Budget session today with the state government allowing a hefty hike in their monthly pay and gifting them laptops with state-run corporations handing them gift vouchers and suitcases.
Members of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council will now get a monthly pay packet of Rs 90,000, up from Rs 40,000.

STAY ON REMITTANCE OF TDS DEDUCTED ON CONTRIBUTION TO 2ND OPTION PENSION COST

It is reported that Corporation Bank Officers’ Organisation  filed a writ petition WP(C) No.8399/2011 (Y) in the High Court of Kerala at Earnakulam on 17th March 2011, challenging the deduction of income tax on 2.8 times of revised Basic Pay as on 01.11.2007, being the contribution to the pension fund out of salary arrears, towards additional cost of 2nd Option on Pension. 

Jammu and Kashmir hikes legislators' salary, pension

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly Monday passed by a voice vote bills hiking the salary of legislators by 20 percent and their pension by 25 percent.
The bills were moved and passed without much debate.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah later wrote on twitter: "Now that we've voted a pay hike for ourselves in the assembly, I'm waiting for the brickbats."
The state government employees have been asking for the release of their arrears following the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission's recommendations.
They have been critical of the government move to hike the salary of legislators and ministers while denying the arrears to the employees.

"Kerala doctors' pay anomaly : Decision after poll" - Govt.


Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy has termed the strike by doctors in Health Service, under the banner of Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association (KGMOA), “inopportune and unnecessary”.
The doctors, who have been on a non-cooperation strike since February 27, alleging government apathy towards resolving their pay revision anomalies, had stayed away from the hospitals on Friday, taking mass leave.

MPs demand implementation of Majithia wage board report

New Delhi, Mar 24 (PTI) Members in both Houses of Parliament today made a strong demand for implementation of the recommendations of the Justice Majithia wage boards for working journalists and non-journalists without further delay.

D.A. reached 51%, Following allowances and advances to increase by 25%, automatically.

As per the announcement the Dearness Allowance is increased by 6% from 45% to 51% to Central Government Employees and Pensioners.The decision would also change the allowance structure.

There is no recommondations in 6th CPC that Dearness Allowance crosses 50% would merge with baisc pay. But some allowances and advances will be increased by 25% on crossing of Dearness Allowance by 50%. 

All the following allowances are to be increased with effect from 01.01.2011.

Central D.A. announced with effect from January 2011

In a bid to provide relief from high inflation, the government today increased dearness allowance (DA) by 6 per cent to 51 per cent, benefiting over 50 lakh central government employees and 38 lakh pensioners.

Central Cabinet meets at 10 A.M. today, 6% D.A. likely to be approved.

 In what will be a bonanza for the central government employees, the Union Cabinet is all set to clear 6% Dearness Allowance (DA) to the employees and a 6% Dearness Relief (DR) to central government pensioners on Tuesday. The increased DA and DR will be applicable from January 1, 2011.

Govt may hike DA by 6% for employees, pensioners tomorrow, 22nd March


The Centre is tomorrow likely to increase dearness allowance (DA) by 6 per cent to 51 per cent, benefiting over 50 lakh employees and 38 lakh pensioners.The decision to hike DA is likely to be taken by the Union Cabinet at its meeting scheduled tomorrow, sources said.

Central govt declares April 14 as holiday, Banks will also be closed

New Delhi, Mar 21 (PTI) The central government today declared April 14 as a holiday on account of the birth anniversary of Dalit icon B R Ambedkar.
All central government offices, including industrial establishments, will remain closed throughout India, an official release said.
PSU banks and other financial institutions will also remain closed as the holiday was also being notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act (NIA).

Holi bonanza for Mumbai teachers


Here’s a Holi bonanza for the school teachers in the city. Teachers of aided and private unaided schools, who have not received arrears since May 2005, would get their outstanding dues before March 22, along with the rest of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation employees, says the latest government resolution. Teachers will be paid from Rs8,000 to Rs52,000.

Increment between Feb to June : an update.

Issue of giving increment in January-2006 for those whose increments falls between Feb. and June has been rejected by MOF but again the issue has been taken by AIRF. DOPT has agreed to review the issue and indication has been given if staff side agrees one time exemption can be given to resolve this issue.
Staff Side insisted that one increment may be given when an employee is promoted within same Grade Pay, for example promotion from ASM to SM or MCM to JE, because resposibilites also increases. NAC has asked Railways to provide list so that decision can be taken at the earliest.
General Secy./AIRF has asked MOF to finalize the pending issues with it as the DAC of Railways has already recommended those.

BSNL PENSION REVISION ORDER ISSUED

In what can be termed as a major breakthrough, DoT issued order on 15.03.11 for pension revision for those who retired from BSNL prior to 01.01.2007. Until now there is no order for revision of pension in IDA scales. Due to the combined efforts of the JAC, BSNLEU and the AIBDPA, cabinet took decision for revision of pension on IDA scales. Following this DoT has issued order ON 15.03.11. We congratulate all the comrades who are retired prior to 01.01.2007, who will be benefited from this order.

Cabinet approves Pension Bill, may go to Parliament soon.

The Union Cabinet today approved a long-pending bill, which is aimed at giving statutory power to the pension regulator PFRDA, paving way for introduction of the same in the current session of Parliament.

Karnataka to form Pay Commission, report likely within June this year.


K.J. Jagadish, president of the district unit of the Karnataka State Government Employees' Association, said on Tuesday that the Government had agreed to constitute the Sixth Pay Commission which would recommend ways to remove the anomalies between the pay scales of State and Union Government employees, subsequent to the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission by the Centre.

"....Class-IV employees shall be paid 100% amount of the arrears including the amount of Rs. 20,000 already paid.
 Class-III employees shall be paid 40% of the total arrears including the amount of Rs. 20,000/- already paid.
 Class-I and II Officers shall be paid the 30% of the total arrear including the amount of Rs. 20,000/- already paid.........
.....The above amount shall be paid in cash and It shall be the responsibility of the concerned DDO to ensure that the arrears may be drawn and disbursed to the concerned employees before 15th March, 2011 by all means."

Dearness Allowance January 2011 – Cabinet likely to approve 6% increase

Central Cabinet Committee likely to release of additional installment of 6% Dearness Allowance to Central Government Employees and Dearness Relief to Central Government Pensioners due from 01-01-2011.The Present Dearness Allowance Rate is 45%  and it will change into 51%. Once DA crosses 50%, some allowances and advances is to be revised 25% more from the existing rates.




Himachal Pradesh released pay arrear.


Apart from not imposing any new tax, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who also holds the finance portfolio,  proposed release of pay arrears for employees and pensioners, besides regularisation of contract employees.
Partially meeting a long-pending demand of the employees, Dhumal announced release of full arrears of Class IV employees according to the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, 40 per cent for Class-III and 30 per cent for the officers. The pensioners will also get 40 per cent of the arrears. This will entail an expenditure of Rs. 550 crore. “Together with today’s announcement, the government has released 61 per cent of the arrears,” Dhumal announced in the House.

Central Employees' retirement age hike to 62 years ?


Sources told this newspaper that the Cabinet subcommittee of the Union government gave its nod for enhancing the retirement age, and orders amending the service rules are expected much before the retirement of the two officials. The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, was keen to enhance the retirement age of bureaucrats.
Sources said that though the proposal is ready for implementation, there will be a few months’ delay because the government wants to make some specific IAS officer the new Cabinet secretary at the Centre and prefers to wait for bureaucrats senior to him to retire before it makes the announcement.

Will West Bengal release D.A. this week ?


All most all the major states except West Bengal are paying D.A to their employees at the central rate. The J &K was the latest to follow the suit. Yesterday they have released 10% D.A. in the budget. W.B. Finance Minister Mr Ashim Dasgupta is going to present the vote on account on 10th March in the assembly. Will he release the much awaited D.A. tomorrow?

J & K releases D.A, refused arrear until resource made available.


An installment of DA payable at 10% had become due with effect from the 1st July 2010. The government has decided to release this installment retrospectively with effect from its due date. The employees shall draw the amount of enhanced DA along with their pay for the month of April 2011. The arrears from 1st July 2010 up to 31st March 2011 shall be credited into their GPF Accounts.

Bihar University, College staff to go on mass leave today

More than 33,000 non-teaching staff of universities and colleges in Bihar shall remain on mass casual leave and hold demonstration at their respective university headquarters on Tuesday to press their pending demands. The call for this action programme has been given by the Bihar State University and College Employees Federation.

Latest Clarification regarding reimbursement of LTC-80 fare.

"........................References are being received in this Department seeking clarification for admissibility of LTC claims of Government officials in cases where the air fare paid for travel by Air India happens to be less than LTC-80 class of Air India. It is clarified that reimbursement of air fare lower than LTC-80 air fare of Air India will also be admissible for journeys performed by Air India under LTC as the intention is to ensure that the LTC claim should not in any case , exceed LTC-80 fare of Air India....."

PSU employees' salary increased over 100% in last 4 yrs: Survey


A PSU employee on an average received an annual salary of Rs 6.09 lakh in 2009-10, with total emoluments increasing more than 100 per cent in the last four years.
According to a Public Enterprises Survey of the government, thanks to the pay hike which was effected in 2008-09 following the implementation of the Wage Commission Committee.

Bank employees may get performance related incentive

Nearly nine lakh public sector bank employees could soon be rewarded for helping their employer improve its performance. 
The government is planning to announce a performance-linked incentive which will be over and above what bank employees get at present. Some bank chairmen and executive directors would also be better off with the government deciding to reward the good performers. At present, irrespective of their performance, all public sector bank chiefs and EDs get the same amount as bonus.

Bihar to give university teachers'' 6th pay commission scale

Bihar government has decided in principle to give university teachers a revised pay scale on the basis of Sixth Pay Commission report, HRD Minister P.K Shahi said today. The universities should submit a revised budget with regard to the salaries of teachers for consideration of the state government, he told the state assembly. The state government will take a decision on the 6th Pay Commission award for the university teachers as soon as it receives budgetary proposals by the universities, Shahi said.

Polls take toll on HRD teachers’ pay hike proposal


The sounding of poll bugle in four states and a UT has forced the government to shelve a slew of projects which were to be considered by the Cabinet on Thursday. An HRD ministry proposal to give grant to cash-strapped states to allow a hike in salaries of 4.5 lakh teachers across state universities and colleges may have to be put on hold.
The Cabinet also did not take up the Rajiv Awas Yojana — aimed at providing housing to urban slum dwellers — for its approval, even though the scheme was a key promise of government.

The 23 day long fast-unto-death stir of the teachers ended today following an assurance from the government to adopt the revised pay bands recommended by the sixth pay commission.

Election Commission announced poll schedule for WB, TN, Assam, Kerala, Pondicherry

The poll dates for the five crucial states - West Bengal, Tamil Nadu , Assam, Kerala, Pondicherry have been declared on Tuesday, Mar 1. Indian political parties have so far eagerly waited for the dates. It seems that the crucial elections in the above mentioned five states will have a great impact on Indian political scenario.
The Election Commission (EC) has declared all poll dates. West Bengal will go for a six phase election which will begin from Apr 18, 2011. The six dates which have been decided for West Bengal's election are - Apr 18, Apr 23, Apr 27, May 3, May 7 and May 10.
Kerala will hold one phase poll and that is on Apr 13. The election dates for both Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry have been fixed to be held on Apr 13, 2011. However, Assam will face two phase poll and that are on Apr 4 and Apr 11, 2011.
The Election commissioner S Y Qureshi, during a press conference on Tuesday, Mar 1, declared the dates and also announced the date of votes counting and that is - May 13, 2011.
