Indian Revenue Service Association has blamed the government for ignoring recommendations of the Pay Commission, including to upgrade the payscale of members of central board of direct taxes(CBDT) to Rs 80,000 per month (fixed).
The association said the recent government move has led to upgradation of post of DGP and PCCF but downgraded the pay scale of IRS officers. It said in the 4th Pay Commission, pay scales of chief commissioner’s of Income Tax and DG of police was equal. The 5th Pay Commission upgraded the scale of DGPs. Even though the IRS Association had demanded restoring of parity between these two posts, the posts of DGPs have been upgraded once again after 6th Pay Commission.
The gap in salary is despite the cadre controlling chief commissioners exercise jurisdiction covering at least one or more than one states, which is no less than functions of DGPs and PCCF. Director General of I-T either exercises all India jurisdiction or territorial jurisdiction covering more than one states.
