The 10-month long wait of central government employees and pensioners for allowances is about to end as the Narendra Modi government is expected to announce a maximum HRA hike of up to 178 percent for them soon.
A high-level committee headed by the Finance Secretary, Ashok Lavasa, on Thursday submitted its report to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
If sources are to be believed, the committee on allowances has given its view in favour of employees by recommending against altering the existing HRA rates.
One of the major concerns for employees was the Seventh Pay Commission recommendation, regarding decrease in house rent allowance (HRA) by 2-6 percent depending on type of cities.
The report will now be examined by the empowered committee of secretaries and following that it will be placed before the Cabinet.

For what reasons the pensioners have been linked with Allowances report, is not clear. In other words, pensioners concerns will be applicable only when pay revision is made applicable respecting pre.2016 pensioners on par with post2016 pensioners, and the fitment formula is revised during the second look in the cabinet meeting. This is for information of the media organisation to project the concerns of pensioners with utmost care....
