Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday told the personnel department to notify the sixth Punjab Pay Commission for the state government employees and pensioners in a month.
He took the decision during a meeting with a high-powered delegation of the Mulazam Front of Punjab led by its president and Punjab Employees Welfare Board chairman Surinder Singh Pehalwan. Badal asked the chief secretary to notify the constitution of the pay commission, stipulating its composition, besides terms and conditions. He also told the principal secretary of finance to provide the personnel department with the terms of reference of the new commission within 15 days.
The CM told the representatives of the employees that the commission would be mandated to recommend new pay scales for the state government employees, revision of pension within a year. Referring to the long-pending demand of the state employees for the implementation of the 4-9-14 assured career progression (ACP) scheme, the CM said the three-member implementation committee would take a final decision on it by March 31.
Conceding another demand of the state employees, the CM also announced that the balance arrears on account of the payment of 6% dearness allowance (DA) to government employees, pensioners and family pensioners with effect from July 1, 2015, would be released before March 31.
