The HarishRawat government on Saturday decided to provide 7% hike in the dearness allowance (DA) to its employees. Besides, the Congress-led government would also provide bonus to the employees before Diwali in all 13 districts of the state.
This move has brought relief to over 30,000 state government employees.
The decision to increase DA was taken at a meeting of senior bureaucrats headed by chief secretary Subhash Kumar at Beejapur guest house. The meeting was chaired by chief minister Harish Rawat.
Speaking on this aspect, chief minister Rawat said government has decided to give an amount of revised DA to state staff, a week after the Modi government gave the revised DA amount to central government employees. "We will give the revised DA amount to them as a special gesture keeping in mind the upcoming festival of Diwali", said Rawat.
Rawat also announced that the festival of 'Chat Puja' will be marked as a restricted holiday (RH) for state employees. Chief secretary Subhash kumar said he had asked the district magistrates (DMs) and other senior district authorities to issue a circular on this with immediate effect. Rawat said those, who wish to avail RH on 'Chat Puja', can go ahead with it. This is the first state government to declare 'Chat Puja' as a restricted holiday in Uttarakhand.
Describing it a welcome move, state employees said decision has gladdened all those, who originally belong to other states, where Chat Puja is celebrated with much pomp and show.
