We are frequently receiving emails and comments in this blog asking the initial salary of new entrants in the Nationalised Bank. As the PSU Banks are hiring a lot in these days, the people want to know the salary structure of the newly recruited workforce after the 9th bipartite. We are reproducing the same for your convenience.
Bank Probationary Officer Salary (newly recruited)
Scale I - Rs. 14500 - (600x7) 18700 - (700x2) - 20100 (800x7) - 25700

In addition to Basic Pay, bank officers (i.e. Probationary officers / PO / Management Trainees) are eligible for the following allowances :-
(a) Dearness Allowance (DA) : DA in banks is revised on quarterly basis (i.e. in the months of February, May, August and November) based on the CPI as declared by Govt. of India. The current DA (for the month of Nov , 2011 is 60.15% of the Basic Pay). DA can go up with higher inflation and also come down if the inflation rate is in negative.
(b) HRA : This depends on the place of posting and it can be either 6.5% or 7.5% or 8.5% depending on the place of posting.
(c) CCA : This also depends on the place of posting and can be either 4% (maximum Rs.540/-) or 3%(Maximum Rs.375/-) or 0%
The above indicates that the total salary of a probationary officer on joining at a metro station will be around Rs.25,000/.
However, the total salary of a probationary officer who has to join in rural area will be about Rs 24100/-
Salary of Bank Clerk
Rs. 7200 - (400x3) - 8400 - (500x3) - 9900 - (600x4) - 12300 - (700x7) - 17200 - (1300x1) - 18500 - (800x1) - 19300
In addition to Basic Pay, clerks in banks are eligible for the following allowances :-
(a) Dearness Allowance (DA) : DA in banks is revised on quarterly basis (i.e. in the months of February, May, August and November) based on the CPI as declared by Government of India. The above indicates that the total salary of a clerk on joining at a metro station will be around Rs.12,250/. However, the total salary of a clerk who has to join in rural area will be about Rs.12,000/-. In addition to this, you can also be paid certain allowances which are specific to the job you have been allocated viz. Cashier or CTO (approximately Rs.1000/-)

I would like to add here-
In SBI u will get intial four increments i.e. your basic salary will be about 16900/- on the date of joining.
U will also be eligible for Leased accomodation, which can go upto 20,000/- per month in metro like Mumbai.
U will also be getting 90000/- as a furniture and fixture grant, for which u will get cleansing allowance(of Rs. 750/- pm), servent allowance(Rs. 15 per day), and annual maintenance allowance of Rs. 9000/-
Than there is a provision for 50 ltr petrol per month for POs maintaing Cars(under revision)
News Paper allowance of Rs. 500 pm.
Mobile Phone plus monthly bill reimbursement.
Other than that there is a Briefcase allowance of Rs. 3000/-, Bucket & Mug Allowance of Rs. 2000/-.
Personal Entertainment allowance comes aroud Rs. 2000/- pm for OJMGs.
The transfer Allowance is about Rs. 20000/-
And for your kids on transfer the School Admission Fee of Rs. 10000/- will be refunded.
A scholarship of Rs. 25000/- per Semester is available for extraordinary kids of SBI Staff.
At the end it will be a better deal to join SBI. Coz salary is further going to revise in 2012.
