The State government on Monday issued an order announcing increased dearness allowance for its employees.
The order stated that following the orders issued by the Centre, the government has sanctioned revised rate of dearness allowance to State Government employees, which will be payable from July 1, 2011. The rate would be 58 per cent pay plus grade pay. Earlier revision was made on January 1, 2011, which was 51 per cent.
The order said the increase in the allowance should be paid in cash with effect from July 1, 2011.
The arrears of the allowance for the months of July, August and September should be disbursed immediately.
The revised allowance should be admissible to full-time employees who are, at present, getting the allowance paid from contingencies at fixed monthly rates.
This is not admissible to part-time employees.
The revised allowance should apply to teaching and non-teaching staff working in aided educational institutions, employees under local bodies, employees governed by the University Grants Commission/All India Council for Technical Education scales of pay, teachers/physical directors/librarians in government and aided polytechnics and special diploma institutions, village assistants in revenue department, noon meal organisers, child welfare organisers, anganwadi workers, cooks, helpers, Makkal Nala Paniyalar, Panchayat Assistants, clerks in Village Panchayat under Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, the order said.
