The state cabinet is likely to give a go ahead to the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission during its meeting on Tuesday to be chaired by chief ministerAkhilesh Yadav. Following the cabinet approval, the government is also expected to table another supplementary budget in the assembly session starting December 21, for budgetary sanctions to fund the revised scales of employees and pensioners.
The decision is expected to be given cabinet clearance following recommendations by a committee.
More than 16 lakh government employees and 6 lakh pensioners will stand to benefit directly through the implementation.
With assembly polls in UP expected to be announced shortly, the SP government is now expected to make a budgetary allocation for its implementation, which is expected to be to the tune of Rs 24,000 crore.
