Gujarat Congress today promised sops for government employees, including implementation of 6th Pay Commission report and setting up of a special Gujarat Administrative Tribunal (GAT), if voted back to power in coming assembly elections.
State Congress leadership here today announced a set of proposed measures for government/semi-government and retired state employees as a part of their 12-point 'Gujarat People Development Vision-2012'.
The announcement was made at a press conference here which was jointly addressed by Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia, Leader of the opposition in the assembly Shaktisinh Gohil and President of Gujarat State Congress campaign committee Shankersinh Vaghela.
"BJP government, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, has created a whole employee apparatus...Where lakhs of employees are deprived even minimum wages," alleged Modhvadia.
If Congress forms the next government, it will adhere to the principle of 'equal work, equal pay' and implement the recommendations of Sixth pay commission for 10 lakh government/ semi-government and six lakh retired employees.
The proposed measures also include setting up of Gujarat Administrative Tribunal (GAT), on the pattern of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), for individual grievances of employees.
"These employees are a valuable organ of government and they should not be left at its mercy for their rights. We promise that we will remove all anomalies in their wages and provide a judicial avenue (GAT) for redressal of their grievances," Shaktisinh Gohil said.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader Narhari Amin, while making similar announcement in Rajkot, alleged "in the last one decade not a single post has been filled by Modi government and nearly 70,000 posts in state government offices have been left vacant."
Congress will fill all vacant posts soon if it comes to power in assembly elections to be held by year-end, Amin said.
