Tamilnadu announces Pongal Bonus

Ahead of the Pongal celebrations, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday announced bonus and special bonus to government employees and teachers and a Pongal gift to pensioners and those getting family pension.
Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees and teachers would get a bonus of 30-day pay with a ceiling of Rs. 3,000, Ms. Jayalalithaa said in a statement.

Group ‘A’ and ‘B’, full-time and part-time employees, who work for 240 days in a fiscal, full-time and part-time employees, workers on consolidated pay, those getting special pay in nutritious meals scheme, Anganwadi workers in ICDS, village assistants, panchayat assistants, contract labourers, those on daily wages and those of them who were later made permanent employees would get a special bonus of Rs. 1,000, she said.


Those working in local bodies, officers and teachers in government-aided schools, those getting salary determined by University Grants Commission , All India Council for Technical Education , Indian Council of Agricultural Research and those getting salary as per the All India Services Rules would also get the bonus.
