New Delhi,Feb 22,2012: Speaking at the Investiture Ceremony for the CBEC today, that recognized the meritious services of CBEC’s officers,Revenue secretary, Mr R S Gujral, stated that the work overload that the CBEC has been facing for the past few years, due to the number of roles it dons, shall soon be sorted out as the Cadre Review would soon become a reality in a month’s time if all goes well.
The ceremony was graced with the presence of the Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, who congratulated the officers and the appreciated the ability of the CBEC to encounter challenges in the everchanging economic scenario and excel. He said that the government is putting in all its efforts to get the GST rolling as soon as possible.
The Chairman,Mr. S K Goel recognized the need for a fine balance to be maintained between trade facilitation and enforcement out of which if one exceeds the other it could adversely affect the department’s performance.
The event saw 35 officials from the CBEC receive the Presidential Certificate of Appreciation for the year 2011.
