Prime Minister postpones MP pay hike

It is reported that the Cabinet could not take any unanimous decision on the pay hike of the law makers yesterday........

A number of ministers including P. Chidambaram, V. Rabi, Ambika Soni etc. urged that it was not the right time for the increase. The nation is suffering from inflation and price rise and the people will not take it granted easily at this juncture of time. Some of the ministers pleaded for only a moderate rise instead of hefty hike as suggested by the committee but the P.M preferred to postpone it for now. The parliamentarians, irrespective of party colours seemed to be really disappointed. Some of them even uttered., "We are above the Secretaries of the Govt. in hierarchy but being paid less than clerks."
